I don't think I could ever get tired of using copper. I love the way it looks after being fired with a torch. My friend Donna Gunn at donnagunn.blogspot.com has taught the bracelet class using the copper metal. I loved the way it looked and thought it would make a great cover for a Journal Book. We get together about one day a month for our fix "Art Day" and this is what I made. Of course I had to make a bracelet too. I love copper not just for the way it looks, but it's also a healing metal. I find that when my Carpal tunnel flares up I just put on my bracelet and the pain goes away. Try one and see. Maybe it's just me, but if the pain goes away I'm gonna wear it.

My latest Journal Book……didn't last long already gone! But I did get a great deal for it. I love when I can barter, and that's what I did with my first fabric journal book. I used a lot of vintage fabric and the heart…. I cut up silk, crush velvet, ribbon and glued it on to some stiff fabric. I used a vintage button and an old key to lock and hold all your secrets in. For the binding I used delicate sheer lace.

I am finding that I LOVE to use old vintage pictures of my family when doing my journaling or any Art work. This is a picture of my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather. Unfortunately I did not get to meet my Great Grandfather. My Great Grandmother was known as Gee Gee and she was a lot of fun. It's good to remember the past and all the LOVE that came with it.

Laugh when you feel like crying...... Life can bring so many challenges and sometimes all you can do is cry. Well it's been 7 months since my post about Reflection, and my mother has passed. I know she is free, free from pain and now she laughs as she dances in Heaven and experiences the joy's that only come as knowing Christ. It's been a whirlwind of emotions for me, crying one moment and then laughing with the joy of new life entering into our family. God is good and He has blessed us with a new grand baby girl...Aubrie Madison. 2 more to go, LOL.

My first day of vacation....couldn't have spent it in a better way than being with my grand daughter Jadyn. She is so funny! I love being with her, she makes my heart smile. It's the most wonderful thing ever being able to experience life with her. Seeing her eye's light up with so much excitement playing in the facet with the water splashing in her face was priceless. Oh yeah, that was after playing in the mud and yes eating some. Didn't we all make mud pies?

It's funny how words are so often heard, but then all of a sudden it's said and it's as if you've heard it for the very first time. For me I have never said those words and I don't even know what it sounds or feels like to say "Daddy I Love You". As I am on this journey of going deeper in my relationship with my Heavenly Father I have realized that He is my Daddy. So for me to say those words to him feels very strange BUT theirs this amazing since of peace and gratitude that I have for being able to say those words to my Heavenly Father. I couldn't even imagine not saying "Daddy I Love You".

The Heart Matters

I love being able to take a day off from the regular routine of life and spend it with a friend just being creative. This month was my friend Donna's turn to come up with the Art for the Day. And being that I have been wanting to learn some riveting, this is what I got to make. I love how when you torch copper you never know what you're going to get, it takes on a whole new different look. Well I have to say I throughly enjoyed my day. Thanks Donna it was fun. Next month my turn......mmmh what are we going to make?

Journal Book 2011

Well.... It finally feels good to get my Journal done for the year 2011. I have to confess.... I've started one for the last 4yrs., but for some reason have never really gotten too far. I'm hoping this one well be different. This is my prayer journal where I will pour out my heart to God and really take my relationship with Him to a new level. It's easy to say you're a Christian or that you know God, but I think the question should be... Does God know You? So I'm looking forward to this new chapter of my life and establishing a deeper walk with my Lord and Savior.

Reflection

As I sit here with the knowledge that my mom is going to pass away soon, which could be any time now. It forces me to look back on this year and all it has meant to me. I can say even though my mom is down to just about her last breathe that my life this year has been blessed beyond measure's. Things like this cause us to look back and take inventory of our lives.... I am grateful for a God who has saved me! I am grateful for where I am in my relationship with my husband, for my family that keeps growing. You see God has blessed me with one grand baby and now next year I will have a total of four. YES, um my kids have been busy...LOL. All in all I am thankful for a mom who has shown and taught me so much that has made me the person I am today. So with that I say Thank You Mom! I love you. And I wish my family and friends that God has put on my path of life a very Happy New Year. May you all be Blessed.

This was perfect weather for a trip to the city of Claremont. This was their 29th annual Arts & Crafts Faire and my friend Donna Gunn was a vendor there. This is her new line of Handbags. Love them! Did I say I'm a Grandma?

This is Jadyn my first little grand baby, she is 4 months old. I got to watch her Sunday. Little did she know she was going to be my captured subject to practice what I've learned in my photography class. So far it's only been 2 classes. I had so much fun taking her pictures. Was a little hard getting the pictures with her trying to get her toes in her mouth and blowing little spit bubbles. I'm feeling really blessed to have this special little gift in my life. Thank you God! Oh yes, the technique I used was Exposure Compensation. This is a function that allows over or under exposure.

Seeing the Light

Light can be so dramatic or not so dramatic depending on how you use it. This is my first shot on seeing the light. As embarrassing as it is to say, after so many years I'm finally figuring out my camera. Didn't know I could shoot black and white, let alone be able to change my settings in sooo many different ways. This is going to be fun and challenging. This is called Metering Modes a function that allows you to choose how light is calculated.

My first experience at Glitterfest..... Thank you Diane and Sheryl for making sure that all our needs and everything else was taken care of. Loved meeting the other Artist it was a great experience. Copper Necklace

This necklace was inspired by a young guy that walked into the Garden of Beaden. However his did not have any other metal attached to the front. His was stamped on the front with metal stamps. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. I loved the way it rolled over on top so that you were able to put a chain through it. Being that I love hearts I had to add that to mine. I wish I could remember his name in order to give him due credit. Though I'm not sure he made it either, but it did so inspire me. The picture behind it is my mother when she was a little girl...

A small book for Quotes

This little book is for those witty quotes or that clever phrase that we read some where and don't want to forget. It is just the right size to put in your purse and carry where ever you go. For the cover of this book I used nickel silver sheets with a little distressing, torching and adding this cute little ballerina. I found her at the Whimzy swap meet and fell in love with her, and now she adorns my quotes book. I did add a little color ink to her dress to pick up some of the color in the book.

This piece all came together after 3 try's......It begin by cleaning off my desk at work and found the little pig in the back behind my computer. The lady who sat there before me was a big pig collector.. so when I found this little pig I new exactly what I was going to do. Took me 3 times to get it right. Should I add there's a funny side to this story? OK, I will!!!! First time I didn't like it so I cut it all up. Oh well I said I'll just do it over.....well 2nd time around was not working out so good for me either. The moisture inside was messing everything up, so my friend (no names mentioned as to protect the innocent) said he could drill the back to let the moisture out. Good idea? oops, NOT a good idea. The drill caught everything and sent it spinning all around. What could you do but laugh? And I did! Ok so 3 times is the charm and I'm very happy with it.

Silver Art Clay

This is my first piece in working with Art Clay. What I love about it is that it allows you so much freedom in being able to create what ever you want. The whole process in making this piece is very cool. What I also like is using sulfur on my jewelry it gives it that antique look with out actually being a hundred years old. This is a friend of ours Rudy, he has lung cancer. He is one the kindest guys I know. He wanted me to do a picture for him. My husband gave me his picture and said it well come to you. As I ponder on what to do for him, this verse in the Bible came to me. Little did I know this is his favorite scripture. I like to call this a God thing. So I went to my neighbors house to dig through his wood to make the cross. I think he was very happy with the way it turned out. Just love doing photo transfers.

A Little Birdie Told Me So

This is my first attempt at using Beeswax. I took a 2 x 4 & did several layers of paint, using the darkest color for the underneath. I did try the crackle paste on top but did not work out so well but, that's ok. A little bit of sanding & I'm on my way to painting. I used Soft Gel Medium to transfer my drawing onto the wood & painted my Angel w/acrylic paints. For her wings I used Gold leaf paint. Then the fun part.... the wax, a little scary at first but I think she turned out nice.

This is a picture of my Grandma and her sister. They would spend many days at the beach with each other. It makes me wonder what they were thinking of sitting there. This is a picture of my Great Grandma. She had a love for the western days. I decided to try my first photo gel transfer. The paper I used for the photo was a little thick, which made it hard to wipe off after I transfered the photo. Made some holes but a little collage and wha la!

Christmas Present

Every year right before Christmas my son's Grandpa, aka: papa buys molding clay so my son can make him his Christmas present. So this year my son made me something, this beautiful little bird bath with three little red birds. I love it! Oh, and did I tell you his birthday is on Christmas and he turned 16! Life is full of all kinds of emotions, which some can cause us to hurt which lead to other feelings which can sometimes be destroying if we don't know how to deal with them. Ok, this is getting a little deep for me, to actually put it out there for everyone to see. But let's be honest we all feel this way at some time or another. For me, its' usually when my heart is not truly seeking God. It's just that everyday life sometimes just consumes me and I let it. I know I need to have an awareness of my needs in order to know how to access it from God. I am thankful that I can trust in the Lord, I know that when I do seek Him, He will not forsake me. So it's ok to feel this way, it's just knowing what to do.

Vie Va Las Vegas

Ok, so I know it's been awhile since my last post. I did however manager to do one post/picture in my Journal Book for November. My Husband and I decided to spend Thanksgiving in Vegas. We had just gotten a time share and decided to get away. The time away was great and we had an amazing time doing lots of things. We went to the Secret Garden and saw the White Lions. Amazing creatures. We took in a show and saw Rita Rudner, which we laughed so much I think we practically crying, she was so funny. We also visited the Hoover Dam that was something to see. All in all it was just nice to spend time away with the one you love.

It's a Howl of a Night

Here is my Glamour Pumpkin Head Girl, as she sports her evening gown for a night out on the town. Done on an 11 x 14 canvas using acrylics, collage, stamps and did some embossing, gel inks, charcoal pencils which I love to use. And yes cotton balls to paint the back ground. This Mermaid was done for a very special friend at work, Maria. She is now retired from work. Free, free to experience life and all it has to offer. To wake up in the morning and sip her coffee, to drink it slowly and really take time to taste it. Boy, how I envy her. Funny this is the one time in my life I wish I was older. There's something peaceful about birds, I love waking up & hearing them sing in the morning. This is another page from my Art Journal Book, I used college images, with silk leaves, some metal leaves, stamps & even some stickers. I like the way it turn out I decided to make a necklace. Oh my Gosh! What a great way to spend your weekend. Carrie & I got to go to Portland, Oregon & take a class called "Totally Tiara" by Sally Jean. She is so gracious. It was an amazing & incredible experience. Thank you Sally for opening up your heart & your studio. It was a total blast hanging out & soldering & eating pizza till late at night. We also met some wonderful ladies. Even though I've been soldering for a little over a year, I fill I've learned sooo much. Definitely looking forward to taking more classes with Sally Jean. Happy Cinco De Mayo & Happy Birthday to my little Hannah Banana. She is now 5yr's old & the cutest little thing. I love her soooo much & miss not being able to see her when I want to. My sister & her family now live in Montana, I think it's been about 4yr's now. We talk just about everyday driving from work back to home. Speaking of work, 5 days left till I'm officially on vacation for two glorious weeks. It's now count down. My husband & I & another couple will be off to New York, catching the Red Eye. Can't wait. My husband was born & raised in New York, & still has family there. We'll land in New York, rent a car & drive to Washington DC for 2 days. Then back to New York for lot's to see & lot's to do. Will, I finally finished reading the Artful Blogging Magazine, pretty cool stuff. I think my favorite story was the one where a couple of people got together & wrote out positive & nice things on a piece of paper & placed them where someone would find it & read what it said. To blog or not to blog. As I ponder that thought, I came across Artful Blogging in my Somerset Studio Magazine. I thought Artful Blogging, is there such a thing as an art to blogging. Well, I bought my first issue of Artful Blogging. Wow! What a great magazine, it totally drew me in, I was so compelled in reading it, I found myself staying up & reading it till late at night. Which for me anything pass 10:00pm is late, considering I get up at 5:20am. Ok, so I don't consider my stuff below, blog writing, just little inserts of what my stuff is. So...... I'm going to give it a try (as scary as it is) since I'm so intrigued by reading what other people have written. I almost feel like I'm invading their privacey, but hay they wrote it, and I can't help but read it. It truly is an art in being able to express yourself like that. It's like when I went to the Laguna Garden Tour with my friend Susan, I'd watch people go by & actually look into peoples windows, I mean really look. I thought that's terrible. Hmmmmm, as I was walking by I thought do I look or not? Heck yeah! I looked, I had too. I wanted to know what color was their walls? How did they decorate? Ok, so I admit it, I'm just as nosey. I looked! Oh well, I had to see if it met my approval, which it did. We had a wonderful day, the sun was out, not too hot, just right. What a perfect day as you can see below.

This is a paper collage of affirmations. I found this wonderful magazine called Cloth Paper Scissors with an article done by Kelly Rae Roberts. She does hers by painting them on canvas, unfortunately I haven't mastered that art, so I've decided to try a paper collage. I think the last time I did a paper collage was in the 5th grade. This one is a gift, so I hope she likes it.

Our limo awaits us at Auntie Amy's. We spent an amazing day touring to 3 craft store's with make and take projects. It was a full day of fun and games. We definitely got the royal treatment. Our theme was "Queen for the Day".

This is one of my favorite bracelets. It probably took about 6-7 hours to make. It was a lot of beading & wire wrapping. I can't tell you how many stones I used, it seemed like I never had enough, but I finally finished.

I know your thinking another Believe Pin, but this one has BIG wings. I only got to wear it one day, and I sold it. It's so exciting when you wear a piece & someone wants to buy it from you. It's also a little sad parting with some of your favorite pieces, but as long as it can bless someone it's worth it.

This time I made one into a necklace, and the pin I added wings by soldering them on. Wire wrapping definitely takes some patients.

I took a class on wire wrapping at my favorite store, Garden of Beaden and did some stamping on metal for the first time. I used copper to give it a little bit of contrast, not bad.
